Barbara Whittaker is a licensed Real Estate Broker, graduate of the Realtor Institute, and is the Broker/Owner of Lion’s Group Realty, which is located in Tampa. Barbara has closed hundreds of transactions, closed packages in the tens of millions of dollars, and continues to grow her real estate portfolio.
Barbara attended USF on a full academic scholarship and obtained her Bachelors in General Studies with an emphasis on Sociological Perspectives. Mrs. Whittaker has been in the real estate industry, in several capacities since 1999. She began her career as an administrative assistant in January of 1999 and later transitioned to an office manager. In 2004, after working several years in an administrative capacity, she decided to obtain her real estate license. Over the years, she has closed and transacted thousands of transactions, transacted tens of millions in real estate and has developed an expertise in distressed real estate, residential properties, asset purchases, commercial properties, vacant land, and property management. In 2015, Mrs. Whittaker made the leap to open her own firm. She wanted to provide a solution to her customers to be able to get top of the line customer service and expertise that would allow them to achieve their real estate investment goals. She also wanted to be able to provide an arena where new and seasoned real estate professionals could grow their business and achieve their personal professional goals with an advantage.
Mrs. Whittaker is also Vice President for an oil company based in Tampa, FL. Her involvement with the company began in 2008 and today she manages all aspects of the companies acquisitions, divestments, leasing, property management, risk assessment and management, insurance, brand development, environmental compliance, outreach activities, growth opportunities and more. Not only has Mrs. Whittaker deeply engaged in the mid and down stream business on the fuel side, she is also heavily involved in other ventures including but not limited to the hospitality industry, franchise business, wireless communications business, commercial investments, redevelopment projects, technology/software expansion projects, and more.
Mrs. Whittaker, along with her husband Huey Whittaker, also own an investment company where they purchase, rehab and sell/rent properties in the Greater Tampa Bay Area. They have built a thriving real estate investment company and continue to groom other investors that are learning the business, so that they may achieve their financial goals. Their flipping business is a true testament of how their family operates. Mrs. Whittaker finds properties, completes the transaction and stages properties. Mr. Whittaker manages all of the vendors and contractors. Their kids stay involved in the process and planning from start to finish. It is truly a team effort. When they divest a property, they quietly choose a neighbor to bless with a renovation or need from the proceeds. This tradition has truly kept their “WHY” center of focus. They love to GIVE. They thoroughly believe their success is built on giving, so in 2020, they began a self-named non-profit organization whose core focus is to help young adults and adults leverage their talents through building financial literacy and, in turn, sowing back into the community to keep the growth going. The Whittaker Family Foundation Inc is an approved 501(c)3 and has just begun but has already sowed 10,000 meals, provided college scholarships, had a month of Random Acts of kindness and has even bigger plans for 2022 and the Greater Tampa Bay community!
Mrs. Whittaker also sits on the Board of Directors for The Building Excellence Foundation, an organization aimed at nurturing the strengths and talents of school aged kids to give them a better opportunity for the future. Last year her team led an initiative that raised over $25,000 for schools, teachers and students in the Tampa Area.
Mrs. Whittaker and her husband Huey Whittaker have been married since 2006 and have four children: Jenai, Tamia, Imani and Ryein.
