People. The hardest part of any significant project is finding and working with the right people. Barbara and Huey immediately negated those concerns.
At the onset, Barbara and Huey took the time to carefully listen to what we wanted and needed, inspected our property, and made very specific suggestions on allocating our budget across our needs to make the biggest impact. They really laid out all the available options, and gave great direction about saving money in certain areas to maximize spending on the important areas. They gave us several choices with every aspect, yet provided the guidance necessary to keep us from being overwhelmed. And that was just the beginning.
Once we settled on the scope of the project, Barbara’s design coordination was amazing. It was the perfect amount of our input, her narrowing the field of choices, and collaboratively arriving at a final design that was far superior to our initial vision. Her experience saved us from the kinds of decisions that are beautiful conceptually, but do not execute well in reality. And they way she was able to articulate those potential challenges helped us be very confident in our choices.
Some of the smallest details really enhance the quality and functionality of a project. Huey had so many ideas that we incorporated into the final project that we never would have thought of. “If you’re doing this, you may as well do that too.” And so many of those things were features or details we didn’t even know existed! We benefited so much from Barbara and Huey’s collective experience.
The scope of our project required multiple work crews; and, the people performing the work on our home were amazing in every way. Courteous, clean, and a level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that was well above our expectations. Barbara and Huey’s strong relationship with their tradesmen was evident. Clearly lots of experience working together on previous projects.
Ultimately together (and it really felt “together”), we refreshed two bathrooms, remodeled our kitchen, created a breakfast bar complete with beverage refrigeration, replaced our door, and even performed structural rehabilitation on the patio roof. It’s an oddly diversified list; but, it is demonstrative of their guidance on maximizing our budget for the greatest benefit to our home. And the final product… it’s so modern and beautiful. Like strait out of a magazine. It’s hard to believe it’s our home! And the peace of mind we have with some of the much needed repairs being completed.
I cannot strongly enough recommend working with the Whittakers. From conception to completion, we had a great experience. And we’ll be happily living with the results for years to come.
